Dr. James Guevara’s recent clinical report on mental health, emotional, and behavioral problems (MEB) within children in the United States examines and expands on the recommendations and criteria listed in the 2019 American Academy of Pediatrics policy statement "Mental Health Competencies for Pediatric Practice" and "Recommendations for Preventive Pediatric Health Care." This report reviews information from these policy statements while also suggesting future actions to improve the increasing rates of MEB problems in children. It also suggests guidance when navigating identification and screening of MEB problems in children as well as steps for their care in pediatric primary care.
