Dr. Yuqing (Madison) Zhang is a physician and clinical epidemiologist (M.D., M.Sc., Ph.D.) with over 15 years of experience advancing evidence synthesis, guideline development, and randomized trials in both integrative and conventional medicine. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, part-time Associate Professor in the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact at McMaster University, Canada, and Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China. She is also a Senior Fellow at Penn's Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics.


With over 80 peer-reviewed publications. She has collaborated globally with the WHO, American College of Physicians, America Thoracic Society, America Society of Hematology, The world Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion societies among others. Notably, she led the BMJ Acupuncture collection, a landmark international series uniting 100+ scientists from 40+ organizations to provide critical methodological guidance that informs clinical practice, reimbursement, and policy decisions.


Dr. Zhang's work bridges research creation, synthesis, and implementation into clinical practice and policy worldwide. She has trained over 600 clinicians, researchers, and graduate students in evidence synthesis and guideline methodology, and serves on the editorial boards of multiple journals.
