Alexander W. Levis, PhD

Assistant Professor of Biostatistics

Dr. Levis is an Assistant Professor of Biostatistics and a core member of the Center for Causal Inference in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Previously, he served as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Statistics & Data Science at Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Levis earned a BSc in Pharmacology (2015) and a MSc in Biostatistics (2017) from McGill University, and subsequently a PhD in Biostatistics (2022) from Harvard University.

Dr. Levis' expertise lies in statistical methods development related to causal inference, missing data, non- and semi-parametrics, machine learning, and the use of administrative and electronic health record data for comparative effectiveness research. His work is applicable to experimental and observational data settings that are pervasive in health research. He has collaborated with investigators in a broad range of application areas spanning the biomedical sciences, and has focused recently on problems in surgery, experimental neuroscience, and mental health.
