Michael George, MD, MSCE
Dr. George’s research is focused on pharmacoepidemiology, with a particular interest in the risk for infections with immunosuppression in patients with autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. He has a particular interest in the risks of low doses of glucocorticoids, which are commonly used in the treatment of many autoimmune diseases, and how these risks compare to those of newer targeted therapies. His research includes evaluating the use of immunosuppression in high risk populations, such as patients undergoing major surgical procedures, with a goal of optimizing treatment regimens for patients with autoimmune diseases. In addition, Dr. George works with online patient registries with an interest in patient-reported outcomes and the imapct of infections and other adverse events on patients.
