Assistant Professor of Neurology and Epidemiology

Dr. Schneider is an Assistant Professor of Neurology in the Division of Neurocritical Care with a secondary appointment as an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology. She also has a Senior Scholar appointment in the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics.

Dr. Schneider received her MD degree in 2014 from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and received her PhD degree in Epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2012. She additionally completed an Epidemiology post-doctoral fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2014. She subsequently completed Neurology Residency and Neurocritical Care Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2020. 

Her research program is centered on neuroepidemiology. She has significant prior experience studying associations between clinical and subclinical vascular risk factors with cognitive and neuroimaging outcomes. Her current focus is investigating the epidemiology of traumatic brain injury, in particular related to the short-term and long-term neurocognitive and neuroimaging sequelae of TBI. She uses data from large epidemiological cohorts, including the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study, the National Health and Examination Survey (NHANES), and the Transforming Research and Clinical Knowledge in Traumatic Brain Injury (TRACK-TBI) Study. She has authored more than 65 peer-reviewed publications and her research is currently funded by a Department of Defense grant.
